Occupational Therapist

Jenine studied occupational therapy at the University of the Witwatersrand and graduated in 2001. She then worked for 2 years at Natalspruit Hospital in their adult neurology and spinal cord injury units where she developed her passion for and special interest in adult neurology and rehabilitation.

In 2004 she moved to the UK and worked within their National Health Service for 3 years. She worked in an Intermediate Care Team providing rehabilitation to patients within their home environment post discharge form a rehabilitation unit.

On returning to South Africa in 2007 she worked for two private rehabilitation units. She continued to develop her skills and keen interest in this area of work and has attended multiple courses and congresses and has also completed her Bobath/NDT course.

Jenine has also worked as a clinical tutor for the University of the Witwatersrand since 2010, supervising 3rd and 4th year OT students on their clinical placements.

In late 2009 Jenine moved into private practice, were she has been since.

Her practice offers the following services:

• Assessment of neurological conditions and spinal cord injuries

• Treatment of neurological conditions and spinal cord injuries including:

➢ Retraining of activities of daily living

➢ Transfer training

➢ Cognitive rehabilitation

➢ Visual perceptual retraining

➢ Upper limb rehabilitation

➢ Equipment advice and provision

➢ Home visits and advice on assistive devices and adaptations

➢ Family and care giver training

➢ Facilitation of return to work

➢ Driving advice and assessments

➢ Wheelchair setup and seating
