Home visit therapy can be carried out by the Occupational Therapist and or the Physiotherapist in order to assess patients within their home environment and to practise skills developed in therapy. During the home visit the therapist is also able to give advice with regards to equipment required and adaptations that can be made within the home in order to give the patient the greatest level of functional independence.

While it is always preferred to have therapy in a fully equipped gym, it is often not possible for neurologically impaired patients to travel. Home rehabilitation can therefore be offered to those who cannot be transported or who have no transport to attend therapy sessions, where and when possible. Home rehabilitation sessions will make use of the patients home environment to treat and challenge the patients function or mobility. A home visit cost will be charged, this may not always be covered by the medical aid and will then be the patients responsibility.
